What is it?

Apple pay is an electronic payment method that allows users to checkout of online merchants using their phone or Apple device. Rather than using a credit card Apple Pay verifies payment using a finger scan. This allows Shopify merchants to offer an accelerated checkout method to customers that bypass the standard shipping and payment steps.

Why should you care?

Apple pay speeds up the payment processes by decreasing steps in the checkout process. This means that when customers don’t have their credit card at hand they are less likely to think “I’ll do this later” and then inevitably forget. Accelerating the payment processes with Apple Pay helps to decrease abandoned carts from users with this payment enabled
