What is a cookie banner notification?
A cookie banner is a popup warning that appears on your website when a user first visits. This banner lets visitors know that your site uses cookies and requires viewers to approve this use to continue using the site. The banner also allows visitors to link to your privacy policy where it is customary to include details about what and how cookies are used on the site.
Why do I need a cookie banner?
We recommend adding the cookie notification bar 1) to provide the most transparent user experience for your visitors and customers and 2) to meet recent and future legislative acts that require website owners to share this information with their visitors. Privacy laws are cracking down globally first with the European Union and the GDPR laws and recently California has taken measures to protect consumers with the CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) and other states are soon to follow. In addition, there are several laws that impact specific fields such as HIPPA privacy rules, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act.
Important note: even something as minimal as Google Analytics meets the criteria necessary for this level of notification.
